Who I Am & Where I Stand

I am a mother, a midwife, and the creator of East Coast Midwifery.

I am committed to honoring women in the birth space.

I am trusting of physiological birth.

I am cultivating relationships with women and among mothers in my community.

I am providing intuition-based, women-centered, autonomous pregnancy and birth support.

Midwifery has been with me always. Midwifery is part of my lineage as it is for all women if we look far back enough. My great great grandmother was a university-trained midwife in southern Italy who attended births in her community. Women have always been birthing babies and the women in my family lineage have been supporting them.

The day I became consciously aware that I was a midwife was over 14 years ago, with the birth of my first child. This experience activated my connection with the ancient art of midwifery and opened my eye to the powerful transformation that is available to all women in birthing. My fire was lit and I have been tending to her ever since. Fed with education, experience, and divine inspiration my practice is ever-evolving.

One of the many philosophies around birth that I hold in my heart is that all women should be free at birth.

Free to birth when and how and where and with whom they choose.

Free to have all the information and all the options available.

Free to make choices based on what is right for that individual woman.

Free to base their decision on their intuition and inner knowing.

Free to be respected, honored, and loved.

My role as a midwife in a woman's pregnancy journey is to act as a guide and guardian. Most often I provide knowledge, connection, reassurance, and sanctuary. I provide time and space for women to speak openly about their experiences. I provide care, comfort, and support.
